Our Rest is Worship

Our rest is worship.

We stop speculating, worrying, and trying to figure things out. We stop running through scenarios in our mind and instead, still ourselves before the Mighty One who already has it figured out.

In the quiet, in the stillness, He returns to His rightful place of authority. By our rest, we acknowledge that our best attempts will never hold a candle to one simple word from Him.

He’s already in tomorrow, next week, and next month. He’s got it all figured out. And He will show us the way forward. If we’ll ask Him, He will reveal what we need to know when we need to know it.

We don’t have to have the answers. We don’t have to know the solution to the complicated mess. He knows. He’s got it. And He’s fathering us in the midst of all the uncertainty and moving parts.

“Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength… He will dwell in parched places of the desert…

But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water… It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:5-8
